How to: Fake being a morning person

1. Wake up. Open those pretty little peepers and take a gander around the room. Do this for two reasons 1) To make sure no one else is about to witness what you're doing next. 2) Make sure you weren't robbed in the middle of the night.
(Also, I suggest you not google "Eyeball gifs")
Since you just did, I warned you.
2. Once you've double checked your most valuable belongings, throw off the covers and feel the cold air. Think to yourself "I wonder if this is what Elsa feels like in the morning." Then stretch the biggest stretch you can. I'm not saying get up and attempt yoga first thing in the morning without coffee....

I'm just saying get a gooooooood stretch.

I do this to get my blood flowing, and to be able to stay in bed for as long as humanly possible.
3. Once your stretched, jump up real quick, do a little jig of some sort, get your heart racing and all the blood flowing to your brain.
Dance Options:
(Disclaimer: These are just options, if you have a favorite dance continue with that one. Please do not attempt if you're not sure you can complete. This could result in early morning injury that you have to deal with all day long.)

4. RUN to the coffee pot/tea kettle/microwave whatever kitchen appliance really makes you smile. That's the key here. Smiling.
5. Once you're done smiling at your favorite kitchen appliance (don't show toooo much favoritism, if the other appliances get jealous you could have anarchy on your hands and HOW WOULD YOU MAKE THE TOAST?) use said favorite appliance. Make some coffee/tea/hot chocolate, whatever puts you in the right mind frame for morning.
6. Now that you've had that first sip of your morning go go juice, race yourself. I try to get everything I need to done before that first cup is gone. (My mom turns the dishwasher and races it... to each their own.) But do something productive... put away those dishes that have been mean muggin' you for a couple days, wipe off the counters.
Now that you've accomplished two things (some sweet dance moves and whatever you decided to do in step 6) you're unstoppable today!
Go make today your bitch.

Glitter Letter Tutorial, No Photoshop Needed

Today is the last day Roland and I will celebrate our dating anniversary! Kind of bittersweet, but next year we'll be celebrating a year of marriage in October instead!!

I'm pretty excited about this post, my first tutorial! I love changing things up on my blog, but if you read my Shout out to designers post then you know I'm not a professional. I do, however, like playing with it and learning how to do new cool blog design things that I see else where. Like the title says you don't need photoshop, all you'll need to do is go to Pixlr and select the first box "Pixlr Editor". All the tutorials I search for end up being youtube videos, and I'm not a visual learner like that, give me a list and I'll read it and re-read it until I know how to do it. So, here you go for all you list learners (With pictures!). A list on how to make glitter letters without photoshop!

You'll need a glitter background, you could google "free glitter background" or you can pinterest them (FYI, if you're looking for tutorials or fun bloggy things, pinterest is a gold mine.) This is the one I used:

Open pixlr, choose the Pixlr Editor box. It'll give you the option to "Create a new image", "Open Image from computer", open image from url, open image from library, or use pixlr on your mobile device, you want to create new image.

It'll give you some options to add a title, change the size, or mark transparent. You can change the size if you want, but it doesn't really matter at this point. Check Transparent and click ok.

On the left side where your tools are, select the text button

Type out the text you want

Once that's typed right click the layer in the "Layer" tool box to the right (the one in the middle) (it'll probably say the text you typed) and select "MERGE VISIBLE". It will put everything on one layer. After that's done select the "Edit" menu, click select all and copy. You can copy using the edit menu or by ctrl + c. While that is still selected, select the file menu and click "open image" whatever glitter image you want.

Once the image is opened, paste your copied text onto the layer.

After the text is copied onto the glitter background, direct your attention (I feel like a flight attendant) to the "layers box" on the right hand side of the screen.

With the text on the background and the Layer 1 selected, select the toggle button, change the mode to Alpha, the words will disappear. Right click the "Layer 1" line, select MERGE VISIBLE again.

Voila! Glitter letters! Then just crop, save as .png, and you've got yourself some awesome glitter letters!

Not too shabby for my first tutorial! If you have any questions let me know, comment or email me and I'll try my best to help you out!

Depotting for your Z pallet

This Monday thing needs to stop happening. I'm never prepared for it. If every week were a four day week with a three day weekend.. Let's be honest, I still wouldn't get anything done, but one can dream.

As un-excited as I am for Monday, I'm super excited about this post! My Z pallet came in this weekend, along with my Real Technique flat top stippling foundation brush (mouth full!). I ordered the large cheetah z pallet. It's awesome. All of my random eye shadows are all in one place. Now I'm not shuffling through 5 pallet's trying to find a specific color I know I have, but just can't find. I will say, the weirdest thing happened. First let me tell you how I "depotted" my eye shadows.

Things you'll need:

1. A blow dryer
2. A towel (I just used a hand towel)
3. The eye shadows
4. TIME

I did this on Saturday, while watching Law and Order SVU, it took about 3 episodes and 2 cups of coffee. (Granted, I wasn't doing this the whole time, I had to get up and do something else in between.)

1. I put the towel on my coffee table and plugged the blow dryer in,
2. The first eye shadow I did was a duo in a pot. (the weird thing I mentioned earlier happened to this eye shadow, keep reading!) I turned it upside down on the towel, and started blow drying the bottom. I kept my blow dryer on low for the most part, and turned it on high during commercials. (Sorry I revolve this thing around SVU... No I'm not.)
3. Once I had been blow drying for awhile I tapped on the bottom and the inner plastic portion popped out, I blow dried that for a little bit, tapped again, and boom the pans popped out. This is where it got weird, the next time I tried to use this one, it was a cream consistency. This had been a new eye shadow that I hadn't used before so I don't know if it was supposed to be creamier than most powder eye shadows, but it definitely is now. Maybe it was the formula? I don't know, but both the yellow and the orangey color that was in it are creamy now.. I mean I don't hate it, but just beware.
4. I did the same thing to my Lancome pallet's, Clinique colors, Mary Kay, and a couple of Maybelline colors I had. They all turned out really well. Some of them had A LOT of glue that got all clumpy on the bottom, I used a Clorox wipe and rubbed on it for a while and it came off. The pallet also came with a couple metal strips since the pallet is magnetized, (which, you'd think since you're depotting down to the pan it should stick anyway since most pans are metal. Not true, I had to use the strips on some of mine.) I also had to use the strips for the ones that the glue would absolutely not come off. I just covered it up!

Side Note: This will most likely deform your pallet's. My Lancome pallet won't shut, and the pot lid won't screw back on. So, just an FYI, if you want to keep the container it came in, I probably wouldn't go this route.

Well, that's how you depot, and place em in your shiny new pallet! Does anyone else have a depotting technique they use? I'm all ears! Happy depotting!

And have a fabulous Monday!
