Eyes on the prize
It's November guys, and the seasons are a changin'.
Monday it was 80º outside. Today it's.... hold on... 25º. That's right, welcome to Oklahoma, where the seasons mean nothing and wind really does sweep down the plains.
It's about that time of year again, where the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping is upon us. Let me tell you a little something about myself. I'm the worst gift giver ever. I think of things that I would like to receive and think obviously that's what they want (they being Roland... and I don't think he wants that new MK bag). For example, Valentine's day, not really a HUGE day to celebrate, but a cute one none the less. So this year for valentine's day, I made "open when" letters.
-when you're mad
-when work is stressful
-our anniversary
-your birthday
-your bachelor party
-day before wedding
-day of the wedding
That was the gist of them, and I was so excited about them, I thought the were the cutest thing in the world, and I would love to receive some open when letters. Although, the morning of valentines day settled in, and I was thinking about my cute cards and realized that those are probably a lot cuter when you don't live in the same apartment, and then, of course, I thought of at least 10-12 things I could have gotten him that wouldn't have been astronomical.
So as you see, I have a disease. A gift giving disease. For Christmas last year I got a pair of UGGS and a Michael Kors bag and what did Roland get? A new iHome. That was the biggest thing he got. I'm still mortified to this day.
I vowed that this year would be different. I'd win this year, I would give the best gift. Then we went and got Roland a challenger, which I think should count but clearly doesn't, HOW CAN I BEAT A CHALLENGER?
But I will prevail. I've done my research, I have a theme (and some back up themes because the first one is always subject to change), I have helpers on the lookout too. I'll probably go out this weekend and stake out the stores and Black Friday deals. I have my eyes on the prize, people. It's happening. This year, Sarah will prevail and Roland will be so surprised.
You will ROCK IT this year! Oh yea! :)

That happens to me a lot too. I think I do a great job gifting and then I get blown out of the water :)
