Worst Blogging Ideas Ever

Good morning! It's currently 6:50 and I'm eating oatmeal out of a cup. Does it get any better? (could I have any more dirty bowls?)  As a blogger, I'm constantly googling things about blogging. "Ways to connect with your readers" "Great blog post ideas" "blogging tips no one knows about" and of course "blog post ideas" I was doing this a couple days ago (ok weeks.. so I can't remember the website) but I came across a website with apparently 100 (it may have been more than that like 126) GREAT blog post ideas.  As I was reading the apparent awesome post ideas, I became extremely disheartened.  This is how people are going about getting followers? It's not even worth it if this is apparently "the way" to do it. 
They were seriously the worst blog post ideas ever. So naturally I'm going to share them with you. 

Wow, aren't we all here for the same reason? To express ourselves? If I knew that there was someone ready and waiting to criticize every word? This was the most annoying one out of the bunch. If you seriously have NOTHING better to do but criticize someone else's personal thoughts and actions... maybe spin it around and criticize YOUR OWN blog post or YOUR OWN actions. 

I'm all for unloading, I mean it's your space to say whatever you want. Got a secret? Share it. Don't share your dirtiest secret that could potentially get you in trouble at work, or one that involves other people, what if they don't want that secret out on the internet? And why are you doing this just to get followers? Great, you shared a secret gained 2 followers, are they going to stick around for the posts without your darkest secret? 

First of all, log files? I imagine text message screen shots. Again, what if the person your texting doesn't want this intense conversation on the internet for literally anyone to find. LITERALLY. And why does it have to be offensive? I like emoji conversations where you tell a story with the smiley faces. Why can't people post more of those?

"Let your imagination free"? Conspiracy theories are a touchy subject. I guarantee if you willy nilly one from thin air you're going to lose followers, and probably friends.. There not something that you can just make up on a whim. There are YouTube videos upon YouTube videos about all the different conspiracy theories and how elaborate they are, but you're just going to come up with one off the top of your head and expect it to fly? Let's hope the government doesn't find you. 

What? Just... what? "people might get mad at you, but that doesn't matter" WHAT?

I don't mind when people get new things and they want to show it off. Heck I've done it a couple times myself... but a whole post of all the nice things you own? a. who cares? b. who cares? c. did I mention who cares? Chances are I don't read your blog because I like seeing all the things you have that I don't. 

Isn't that what the "popular" page/widget is for?

I can't even comment on this.

Journey through Blogtopia

Blogland, blogtopia, I've even seen bloglandia. Whatever you call it, it's your little online home-away-from-home if you will. You have your online/blog friends, your clique, your niche, your decor, your opinions, and shopping is only one tab away. What more could a girl really want?  What's crazy is how many different "countries" there are in blogland. (just go with it)
When I first started a blog sometime last summer I was in a book phase. I was reading anything I could get my hands on, so I was reading a lot of book reviews which led me to the world of book blogs. I actually had a book blog for awhile, but I wasn't reading books everyday like some of those book bloggers, it's a little intimidating. I mean they seriously post everyday or every other day about another book. I couldn't keep up. I'm smart, but I also have things to do. And Hulu +. 
After that little stint in book country, I became obsessed with make up. I've always had a special place in my heart for skin care, but I got really into reading reviews and trying to figure out what products had what ingredients and what worked well together etc. Which brought me to the prettier side of blogging. Everything was so bright and colorful, and everyone's skin looked amazing. I thought, surely I can do this. They don't tell you when you start a beauty blog, how much you actually spend on make up products. Granted I buy skin care like nobodies business, but I'm not down to buy something just to review it, what if I don't like it? I still like to let you know if I've tried something that I probably won't be able to live without, but I'm definitely not hard core selling the beauty point of Sarah's Spiel anymore. 
Which leads me to where I am now, somewhere trekking in the wide open plains of blogland. We need a "I'm obsessed with skincare, wine, and Friends" niche. That's mine. 
So to sum it up, the "countries" of blogland:
The Book Bloggers: Kind of scary, kind of dark, kind of overwhelming. The third world of blogging. 
Beauty Bloggers: The prettier side of blogging. Take way too much time on their photos. Have awesome skin. 
Lifestyle Bloggers: Best of both worlds. Can write about whatever the heck they want, pretty, usually super nice, hilarious.  My kind of people. 
Note: I know these aren't all of the niche's out there, just the ones I've traveled through.     

My Reaction When:

Disclaimer of sorts: This post was inspired by Belinda at Found Love, Now What, she posted yesterday about the questions she gets asked when people find out she's a blogger, and also by Juliette at The Other Juliette and her "OMG Karen, you can't just tell people you blog" post. So go check their blogs out, they're awesome.

Does anyone else participate in Reddit? I'm what they refer to as a "lurker". I never post anything, I just scroll through looking at everyone else's, and I'm ok with that. My favorite posts are the reaction gifs,  "MRW (my reaction when)..... etc." Some of them are pretty funny. Whenever something happens during the day, I always think "Man this would be a good reaction post." (which is also why I think Twitter should be gif compatible.)

In addition to my constant gif based thought process, I'm absolutely terrified of anyone finding out about my blog. I can't even give you a real answer why, sure I'm afraid of failure (which is what I tell myself), but what is failure in the blog world? I have 7 followers, that's more than I ever thought I would have! My blog has a twitter, which is crazy to think about. Besides, I didn't start this blog because I wanted everyone in the world to follow me or even read it. I love writing, now it's just on the internet for anyone to find, and I'm actually pretty proud of my little internet corner. Can't we all just go back to the days when we weren't worried about other people judging us? I'll take a capri-sun too while we're at it.
