Oh Hey Friday!

Ages ago, I did 5 on Friday's. Mainly because they were easy and how could you not come up with five things? Am I right? Well those fell to the wayside, but recently I've seen Karli's Five on Friday link up "Oh Hey Friday." I'm totally not against saying hi to Friday because come on, it's like the weeks best friend.

  1. These strawberries from Shari's Berries are everything.
My mom sent them to my office so I couldn't eat them all by myself (Roland is allergic..), but I'm probably going to take them home at lunch. Hashtag loophole.
2. Roland and I are getting our engagement pictures taken this weekend.
So I took some birthday money I'd gotten from his mom to Dillard's to find a dress to wear. I found one for $18. EIGHTEEN people. A dress I'd been lusting after, at that. Normally when I wait for something I want to go on sale, my size is gone.
$18 dress. Holllaaaa.

So then because I had gotten such a sweet sweet score, I continued my quest to see what else I could see. I, of course, found a dress I loved equally, but alas it was not on sale. But... engagement pictures people. And, birthday money. I could splurge a little bit. So Dillard's caught me in there web of "come for the sale stay for the full price stuff" and let me tell you, they won.
All the oo's and ahh's here people. I'm obsessed with this dress. Like if I didn't have to wear it for pictures tomorrow I'd be wearing it now. (but I'm wearing leggings now instead so still a win in my book.)
3. My birthday is Sunday.
I'm only turning twenty-four and since we're budgeting for the wedding, I know Roland is feeling restricted because he is a birthday celebrator if there ever was one. The first year we were dating he went to my apartment while I was at work and hung streamers and balloons and got dinner and it was magical. I don't even remember what I got, but I remember walking into that.
Last year, I met Roland at his mom's house for lunch and there was a whole princess shebang set up.
A princess banner, princess cake, little princess crowns and sashes for all the guests (Roland's mom runs an in home daycare, so I got to party with the craziest guests around, 3 year olds. If you've ever seen a three year old high on sugar, you can agree.) We ate lunch and blew out candles. It was magical. Roland's Birthday is Wednesday. I suck at birthday's compared to him. And he already got his birthday present. His friend was selling his X-Box One and Roland has been dying to have one so I told him he could get it for his birthday.. so it's at home plugged in. Boo, I know.
4. My "Bachelorette party" is coming up next weekend!
Also, Google tried to tell me bachelorette should be bachelor. I'm extremely excited to see all my friends that I haven't seen in ages! We're going to a wine and pallete (and we're painting truffala trees from the Lorax.) and then we're going to grab some dinner and have a lingerie shower! I'm so excited. My best friend Ashliegh is coming up from New Mexico! It's going to be a blast.
And for those of you that have no soul and haven't seen the Lorax:
Truffala Trees.
  5. My Super Cute Nephew.

you guys. I can't even. Look at that face he is making?! He's getting such a personality it's adorable. I can't express my love for this little guy. It's going to be so sad when Roland and I move and can't see him on a regular basis.

Happy Friday All!

Mother's Day Edt.

So yesterday Whitney posted about reproducing and how it's basically for the birds. But the truth is someone had to do it. And what a coincidence that this weekend is actually Mother's day! After reading Whitney's post I was thinking about the act of having children, not only is giving birth down right terrifying.. What do you do with them once they're born? Someone should right a book "Congrats, you had sex, lasted nine months as a balloon, pushed said balloon out, and now you don't want said balloon to be a murderer when it grows up, good luck." Or a greeting card. I'd want a greeting card like that.

Anyway, we were pretty lucky with an awesome mom (none of us are murderers yet, so she's got that going for her.) So here's a Five on Friday just for my mom.

1. My mom was a stay at home mom. I know not everyone can do it, but I think that made all the difference in our relationship now. I knew when I got home from that awful day in junior high, my mom would be there, she'd probably make me cookies, and she'd listen to all my problems like they were the only thing in the world that mattered.

2. My parent's have both always been supportive of whatever I want to do. But I always know when I come up with another "this is what I want to do with my life" idea my mom is behind me every step of the way. (granted she may be quietly telling me why SHE doesn't think it's a good idea.. she's there.)

3. I wish I could say that my mom and I have always been best friends, but that isn't the case. We've had our ups and downs. But now I'm glad to say that she is my best friend (next to Roland, of course). We email all day long at work, and I still think of reasons to call her after work.

4. My parents relationship. I'm a lot like my dad: laid back, go with the flow, low key kind of person. Roland is a lot like my mom: uptight, ocd about certain things, quick tempered. We balance each other out. Seeing the way my parents worked through things and how in love they were even 25 years later is such inspiration. (I know, corniest line I've probably ever used in all 23 years of living.) My parents are best friends and their relationship will forever be a reminder to me.

5. Roland often tells me that I'm the smartest person he knows, although I'm sure that's just for his own personal gain, I know I'm pretty smart. Maybe not smart, but quick witted. My mom homeschooled me and my brother from 3rd grade all the way through 7th grade. I don't know how she did it but I couldn't imagine my child hood any other way, and I think both me and Brandon are better for it.

Some of my favorite memories with my mom (I know this is getting long, I won't bore you too much longer.):
+ In March when we drove to visit my Grandma and stopped at EVERY Ulta from Jackson to Dallas looking for the Naked 3 pallete. It was the "Ulta"mate girls trip.
+Any holiday ever. My mom and I are easily excited, and loud. So that always makes for fun memories.
+Roland and I try to go over there on a pretty regular basis and eat dinner and play cards. My mom is a card playing fool. We always leaving wondering why we don't do that more often because we always have so much fun. And my mom makes the best food. ever.

Happy Mothers day to all you mom's out there!

Five on Friday & #backthatazzup

Happy Friday beauties!
I'm sure I'm not alone in rejoicing in this day finally arriving this week.

Some exciting things happening here at the Spiel's corner. I started a Twitter just for Sarah's Spiel! My corner of the internet just became a whole wall! With my every thought on it. There's a Twitter widget over there in the left sidebar where you can follow me and see what I'm doing when I'm not filling out Cosmo worthy quizzes and talking about my favorite things from this week!

So that's going to be my #1, that we're moving on up over here.

2. Anastasia Eyebrow pencils: These things are the best. I just recently started filling in my eyebrows (due to an over-tweezing incident) and these pencils make it really easy to get my eyebrows to look fuller and more alike. (It was a serious over-tweeze.)

3. Toby's Bow Tie: That's right, you're reading that correctly. We purchased Toby his first bow tie. He's adorable.

4. I'm sending my cousin her "Will you be my Bridesmaid" package this week, and the picture I picked is hilarious/awful at the same time. I can't believe I'm putting it here for the world to find, that's just how hilarious it is.

Dress up days. Clearly I've always had "swag".

5. Scandal! It came back last night. I'm so excited. I'm sad though because I realized I've been missing Revenge episodes. Clearly I need Hulu back in my life. I've decided I'd rather wait and binge watch a whole season, than watch it during the season with commercials...

Speaking of binge watching, we need to unite, Friends lovers, and sign a petition or start a riot, to bring the hilarious lives of Monica, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, and Ross to Netflix. I'd much rather watch it all day everyday than have to wait for it to come on Nick at Nite at 10:00.. I'm half asleep by then anyways.. So, Netflix, get it together.

Mr. Spiel has had this song on repeat lately. So naturally it's stuck in my head now.
#backthatazzup
That's it for today's five. Hope y'all have a fabulous Friday!

Friday!

Of course the day I don't have a hair tie on my wrist, my hair is going to drive me the most crazy.
This is my life.
Obviously thank goodness it's Friday.

This isn't technically one of my five's because he's my favorite almost all the time! Braden! We're watching him this weekend and I. Can't. Wait!

The other day I was going through some of my pin's and I found some really hilarious ones that I would repin in a heart beat, so here's to all the pins that are hilarious, and that need to be broadcast to the world! Happy Friday y'all!

I don't know how many of you have seen this show, but it's hilarious. This comes on nick at nite instead of Friends sometimes. Although it makes me sad because I would rather watch Friends than almost any other show, ever, this show is equally almost as hilarious. It's called "The New Adventures of Old Christine". I never liked Seinfeld, but this girl is hilarious in this show.

This one cracks me up because it reminds me so much of my parents dogs. They have a full blooded black lab, and a mixed lab-ish, Buddy and Macy. Buddy is getting up there in years, but he's still pretty quick when it comes to food. Every time someone pulls out a treat he's always pushing Macy out of the way so he can get to the food first.

This is pretty self explanatory, and I have no idea why it makes me laugh so hard, but every time I read it I'm dying.

This is speaking the truth.

This one kills me because all I can imagine is Buddy and Macy riding bicycles.
I hope these put a smile on your face, if they didn't then just remember it's Friday and there are only a couple more hours until the weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh I love Valentine's day. This is our last Valentine's day as an un-married couple! My friend is getting married in May and I said that to her last night and she was like "Oh my gosh.... It's all sinking in." Although, I don't think Valentine's day should be a big deal to couples. As a -almost- wife, I should strive to make sure that Roland always feels loved, not just on February 14th. So today's Friday Five goes to the other people in my life, that should feel some love.

1. My cutie mom! Every one tells us we look exactly alike. If I look like her when I'm her age (Which I don't know what it is, my whole life she's told me she's 29) I'll be more than grateful. My mom has always been in my corner. She's the one person I can always count on. Today she brought me the cutest Valentine's day box with some balloons tied to it. I couldn't have been more blessed.

2. My dad! Like my mom, my dad has always been in my corner! I'll always be a daddy's girl. He patches my tires, fixes our washer and dryer, tells me what to do when something isn't working properly, and brings me Starbucks when my mom calls him and tells him I need it. My life stuff would be in shambles if it wasn't for him, and I wouldn't have any clean laundry.

3. Baby brother Bray Bray. (Yes, he's 6'4" and single ladies). My brother deserves extra love on Valentine's day. Brandon never really knew what he wanted to do after high school, but after a year he knew he wanted to swim, and help people. So he joined the Air Force to be a pararescue jumper (the special forces of the Air Force) Once he finishes up his schooling this year he'll be jumping out of helicopters and going on secret missions. I'm so proud of him, following his dreams. He's grown up so much over the last couple years. So proud. Ok, I'm done.

4. Grandmas! (my mom's mom... if that isn't obvious) When I was younger we lived in Hawaii, so we didn't see our family a lot since it was such an ordeal to travel that far away. My Grandmas and Ta (her husband, not my mom's dad but the most amazing mad I've had the pleasure of knowing) would come and visit us as much as they could. They were the only grandparents to be at every major event in mine and Brandon's life. (From Kindergarten graduation to high school graduation) Ta isn't with us anymore, but Grandmas has no idea how much she has impacted my life. I'm so thankful for her godly influence on me, I couldn't ask for a better Grandmas. :)

5. Last but not least, my maid of honor. Catherine and I have been friends since 9th grade. We actually hated each other before we were friends. We're a lot a like in some ways and in others we couldn't be more different, but I couldn't have asked for a better best friend. She gets me, she's never judged me, she always listens, and I just know she'll be the best maid of honor.

Those are the people in my life that deserve some extra love today (since Roland gets it every day!)
Who in your life deserves some extra love?!
In honor of #backthatazzup a groovy corgi

Five on Friday: My Favorite Blogs!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Oh sweet, sweet Friday. I didn't think I'd ever see you.

I used to have a section in my side bar for the blogs that I read all the time. Since it looked weird when I switched some things up, I had to delete it, but I'm working on a blog roll page. It's under construction. So today I'm going to do my 5 favorite blogs to read. Be sure to check them out because they're awesome.
(You can click on their pictures to take you to their blogs!)

A Girl and Her Sparkles

1. Becky over at A Girl and Her Sparkles, she's amazing. Not only are her posts extremely relate-able, but she also has some awesome tutorials, and she's so crafty. She has been a huge inspiration in my short blogging experience, she's so encouraging and always has something nice to say! And her wedding skills are on point. Also, check out her mini cheesecake recipe. They're the bomb!

2. Whitney over at IWYPTW is hilarious. She's so funny, and down to earth. She tells it like it is and doesn't look back. I admire that about her. And her taste in music is impeccable.

Girl Growing Up

3. Chelsea over at Girl Growing Up. She's such a cutie! I love reading her posts. She's always positive and friendly. She recently posted a Red Velvet Cupcake Recipe, that should be made and eaten immediately. She wasn't kidding, they are the best.

The Daily Tay

4. Taylor over at The Daily Tay, she's so funny and good natured (the red line underneath that says it's not a word, it is now). The other day she posted about her adorable dog Harlow, and his dreams of becoming a star. I'm a dog lover so I love reading about other peoples fur babies and the crazy things they do. That's what gives them personality!

5. Doesn't have a button but it's Caroline Hirons. Her beauty posts are so informative and her cheat sheets are printed out and sitting on my bookshelf. Seriously they're the best. Reading her blog I learned a lot about my skin and acne, and how to treat different forms. So definitely don't pass it up!

Some honorable mentions that also get read everyday, since I knew I couldn't choose only 5;
Sunlight After Rain
#backthatazzup; this song is singing to my soul today.

Disclaimer: none of these wonderful people asked me to put their blogs in here, nor do they even know. These are the blogs I read everyday, and you should too!

Have a fan-freaking-tastic Friday, y'all! And Happy Blog Browsing!

Five on Friday: Wedding!

WOO HOOO! It's Friday and I couldn't be more excited. Even though there are zero exciting events planned for this weekend. My closet is a disaster, so, that's where I'll be all weekend. I had glass from a picture frame in there and of course it fell and broke. I like to live on the edge, getting ready in the morning is almost like the Hunger Games.

So exciting five for this Friday! And they're all wedding related!

1. The best one, the creme de la creme of weddings: The Ring! My new ring came in yesterday! Mr. Spiel was quite upset because he wanted to surprise me, but they called me and told me it was in! As soon as I left the gym I went to kidnap it from him (because he had picked it up and was working late, that impatient thing again, I couldn't wait a couple hours.) I love it.

2. The second best one:
The Dress. I've actually had my dress since October, but I went to my parents house last night and I missed it and wanted to see it. The front and the back. I love it. It's classic, elegant, and simple. The first one I tried on that I loved also was the same style, but the trumpet part was all tool. It got vetoed by everyone else though, so we went with another favorite! I'm glad though, I'd wear this everyday if I could..

3. The Location: I don't have pictures for this. We're having the ceremony at my parents church (which, no offense, is hideous, but I grew up there and it's big enough to hold everyone.) And the reception (the real party) is going to be held at a new hotel that's being built here in town. The Hilton Garden Inn & Suites! It's gorgeous on the outside so I can only imagine how awesome the inside is going to look!!

4. The colors: Coral and Gray! Yellow flowers and the boys will be wearing Navy ties! I'm so in love with this color scheme. For the longest time I wanted coral and turquoise, but it's hard to get two relatively bright colors to flow together, especially in the fall. So the girls are getting to pick their own dress and they have three different color options, a light pink, a medium coral, and a bright coral. I'm so excited for them to pick them! All the girls have awesome taste and I can't wait to see what they choose!

5. My favorite, the cake:

This cake, deserves its own post. I. love. this. cake. The ombre, the layers, even the flower (and I don't normally like flowers on cakes.) This is the cake that will be at my reception. My mom keeps telling me I won't have time to eat, if I have time to look at this beauty, it'll be enough for me. Mm.. I love this cake.

What are your five this Friday?
